Home Delivery

Just like human babies, your new puppy needs vaccines to get them off to a healthy start. The amount of vaccines and trips to the vet depends on their age and how many vaccines they have already received.  The following is Southside Animal Hospital's puppy vaccine recommendations:

5 to 6 weeks of age:

   - Physical Exam
   - Intestinal Parasite check and deworm
   - 1st Distemper/Parvo Vaccine

8 to 9 weeks of age:

   - Re-exam
   - Deworm
   - 2nd Distemper/Parvo Vaccine
   - 1st Bordetella (Kennel Cough) Vaccine
   - 1st dose of heartworm preventative
   - 1st dose of flea and tick preventative

12 weeks of age:

   - Re-exam
   - Deworm
   - 3rd Distemper/Parvo Vaccine
   - 2nd Bordetella
   - 2nd dose of heartworm preventative

16 weeks of age:

   - Re-exam
   - Deworm
   - 4th Distemper/Parvo Vaccine
   - 1st Leptospirosis Vaccine
   - 1st Rabies Vaccine
   - Need to purchase own heartworm preventative and flea and tick preventative

20 weeks of age:

   - Re-exam
   - 2nd Leptospirosis Vaccine

We prefer to do a Spay (Ovario-Hysterectomy of female) around 5 months of age.
We prefer to do a Neuter (male) around 5 to 7 months of age.
Heartworm Preventative should start being given when the puppy is 5 to 6 weeks of age and continue every month for the rest of the dogs life.
